The Customs Agency and US border protection made a surprising announcement on Monday, stating that his agents had found cow dung packed in luggage – and, he warned, you must stop doing this because the health risk presented. Dung beef may have been transported with mistaken confidence that he offers protection against Covid-19.

According to US CBP, his agents found two cow dung bread in a suitcase left after Air India flight last month. The suitcase arrived at Washington Dulles International Airport; As you would expect, CBP said that its agricultural specialist destroyed cow products.

Note, US CBP warns that cow dung is one of the items that are prohibited for transportation from India to the US. Apart from some beliefs that cow dung can offer health benefits – including, the increasingly, the belief that it can protect against Covid-19 – the reality is that these products pose a risk of foot and oral disease (FMD).

This disease is found throughout the world and is a special concern for agriculture because it spreads rapidly through livestock. The US has been free of foot and mouth disease since 1929, and US CBP warns that introducing it can destroy the international livestock market.

One case of FMD is likely to produce international livestock trafficking temporarily suspended until the source of the disease can be eradicated. Concerns about the potential distribution of cow dung is higher than usual because of the situation of Covid-19 tragic India and beliefs among several in that country that cow dung can increase immunity and help protect against infection.
